Four individuals have been arrested in Nsawam in the Eastern Region for allegedly impersonating National Security officers and extorting money from a member of the public.
According to preliminary investigations by the Ghana Police Service, the suspects posed as operatives of the National Security apparatus and falsely accused a relative of the complainant of wrongdoing.
Under the guise of resolving the alleged issue, they reportedly demanded and collected GH¢3,700 from the victim.

The incident was reported to the police, leading to swift action that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
Upon interrogation, the individuals failed to provide any legitimate identification or authorization to support their claims of being National Security personnel.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Authorities have confirmed that they will be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction on February 5, 2026.
The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public to be vigilant and to always verify the identity of persons claiming to be security officers.
