Galamsey Site Cleared Between Fufuoso and Adugyama, Area Under Surveillance

As part of fight against illegal mining , galamsey site is cleared between Fufuoso and Adugyama, area under surveillance.

Authorities have cleared a galamsey site discovered between Fufuoso and Adugyama in the Ashanti Region, as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on galamsey operations across the country.

A rapid response team, deployed to the area, found extensive land degradation and makeshift structures believed to have been used by illegal miners.

However, no individuals or mining equipment were present at the time of the operation.

The team immediately dismantled all temporary shelters and cleared the site.

Security officials have since placed the area under continuous surveillance. Reports indicate that there has been no return of illegal activity over the past week.

Meanwhile, police investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the mining operations.

The authorities are calling on the public, particularly residents of nearby communities, to assist by reporting any suspicious activity or providing relevant information that could lead to arrests.

The move is part of a broader crackdown on illegal mining, which continues to threaten Ghana’s environment, water bodies, and agricultural lands.
