The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued an official statement addressing growing public concerns and media commentary following the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
The release, dated December 1, 2025, aims to provide clarity and ensure a balanced national discourse around the recent examination outcomes.
In the statement, GES acknowledged the intensity of public discussions surrounding the performance of students in the 2025 WASSCE but firmly rejected claims that poor management practices contributed to the results.

The Service also responded to comments made by the immediate past Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum, who allegedly attributed the students’ performance to the GES’s administrative approach.
GES dismissed allegations that it had cancelled teacher allowances, clarifying that the delay in November payments was publicly explained by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD), and was not due to GES actions.
The management urged the public to treat the former Minister’s remarks as an attempt to deflect from his own shortcomings in managing the examination process.

According to GES, the 2025 WASSCE results are a credible reflection of candidates’ academic performance and represent the abilities of students across the country.
The Service reiterated that strict examination protocols were enforced, including heightened invigilation, strong supervision, and zero tolerance for malpractice.
These measures were instrumental in reducing incidents of cheating and ensuring the integrity of the exams.
Additionally, GES highlighted that before the exams, the Ministry of Education and the Service jointly issued a clear directive prohibiting any form of assistance or malpractice by teachers and officials, with strong sanctions enforced for violations.
In conclusion, the GES emphasized that the outcomes of the 2025 WASSCE should be viewed as part of the broader evolution of Ghana’s education system towards higher levels of integrity and accountability.
