Ghana Government condemns ill-treatment of Nationals by Israeli authorities while traveling to the country.

The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned the recent ill-treatment of Ghanaian travellers by Israeli authorities at Ben Gurion International Airport.

In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana expressed its protest over what it describes as “inhumane and traumatic” treatment of its citizens.

According to the release, on Sunday, 7th December 2025, seven Ghanaian nationals were detained at the Israeli airport without justification.

Among those held were four members of a Parliamentary delegation attending the Annual International Cybersecurity Conference in Tel Aviv.

The detained individuals were reportedly released after more than five hours of intense diplomatic negotiations.

Three others were deported on the next available flight and have since returned to Ghana.

The Ghanaian government has labelled the conduct of Israeli authorities as “provocative, unacceptable, and inconsistent” with the longstanding cordial relations between the two nations, which span over six decades.

The Ministry rejected Israel’s justification that Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv failed to cooperate, stating that the mission has always acted lawfully and responsibly.

In response, Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned officials of the Israeli Embassy in Accra to express its displeasure and is considering further reciprocal actions.
