Ghana Police Arrest Two in Connection with Viral Child Abuse Video

The Ghana Police arrest two in connection with viral child abuse video at Agona Jamasi after most social media users go wild about it.

The Ghana Police Service, through the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, has arrested two suspects in connection with a disturbing viral video showing the physical abuse of an 11-year-old girl at Agona Jamasi in the Ashanti Region.

A press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo confirmed that swift investigations led officers to Agona Jamasi, where Grace Mensah was first apprehended.

Further operations resulted in the arrest of Godfred Osei Akoto, the individual captured in the video physically assaulting the child.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred on December 6, 2025. Reports indicate that the young girl had left home and failed to return, prompting actions from the suspects.

Akoto, during police interrogation, alleged that he had received authorization from the child’s grandmother to discipline her a claim now under scrutiny.

The victim has since been rescued and is currently receiving care. Both suspects have been transferred to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigation.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of children and emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of abuse.

The Service also praised the vigilance of the public in circulating the video, which aided swift law enforcement response. Investigations remain ongoing.
