Harriet Amuzu, the 32-year-old woman at the center of a viral domestic violence video, has come forward to share her side of the story, shedding light on the events that led to the widely condemned assault.
According to Madam Amuzu, her marriage had ended some time ago, prompting her to relocate to her hometown while leaving their children in the care of her estranged husband.
Recently, she received a call from him claiming that one of their children was seriously ill.

Concerned, she travelled to his residence to check on the child, only to find that the child was in good health and no valid explanation was provided.
She stated that she decided to stay overnight and return to her village the following day.
However, tensions escalated when she reportedly refused her former husband’s sexual advances.

This, she said, sparked a heated argument that led to the physical assault captured in the now-viral video.
Madam Amuzu has since lodged an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service and is calling for justice.
She urged authorities to ensure her ex-husband faces the full consequences of the law, stating that no woman should be subjected to such violence for exercising her right to say no.
The incident has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for stronger enforcement of domestic violence laws in Ghana.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
Human rights organizations and gender advocacy groups have also condemned the act and are providing support to Madam Amuzu as legal proceedings take shape.
