Marriage counsellor Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt, has publicly criticised the wife of late gospel musician Yaw Sarpong, following the singer’s passing.

Ghanaians woke up to the sad news on Tuesday, January 20, that the veteran gospel artist had died.

The confirmation was made by his manager, Nana Poku Ashis, who disclosed that Yaw Sarpong passed away at Emena Hospital in Kumasi, where he had been receiving medical care.

Yaw Sarpong, widely respected for his impactful gospel compositions and long-standing contribution to Ghana’s music industry, received an outpouring of tributes from fans and colleagues.

Prominent figures, including rapper Sarkodie, took to social media to honour his legacy.

However, amid the mourning, Counsellor Lutterodt, speaking in an interview on Angel FM, accused the musician’s wife, Adwoa Pinamang, of mistreating her husband while he was alive.

He recalled an incident in which she allegedly took Yaw Sarpong to Oyerepa Afutuo, a relationship programme hosted by Auntie Naa, where she publicly raised issues about money, which he described as humiliating.

According to Counsellor Lutterodt, Adwoa Pinamang should return to the same platform to openly express her grief, just as she had previously expressed dissatisfaction with her husband in public.

He further claimed that Maame Tiwaa, who predeceased Yaw Sarpong, was the musician’s true soulmate and divinely ordained partner, suggesting that this spiritual bond explained the singer’s death occurring shortly after hers.

The comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with many calling for sensitivity and restraint during a period of mourning, while others debate the appropriateness of revisiting marital disputes after death.
