Graduate Nurses and Midwives Threaten Protest Over Delayed Government Postings
Association of Graduate Nurses and Midwives threaten protest over delayed Government postings over years now. The Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association has issued a strong warning to the government over the persistent delay in posting its members to health facilities across the country.

The group says some of its members have remained at home for as long as five years since completing their training.
Although a planned protest originally scheduled for this week was called off due to challenges in finalising security arrangements with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, the association says it is not backing down.

Frustration continues to grow among members, many of whom say they are unable to support themselves financially despite completing their education and national service.
Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Gamal Osman — a graduate from the class of 2021 — described the psychological and financial toll of being unemployed.
“I have been in the house for four years. I completed school in 2021.
We are all stranded. Remember, completing school and depending on someone is not easy. How to even buy water is not easy,” he lamented.

The association is demanding immediate action from the Ministry of Health and relevant government agencies, warning that it will pursue all lawful means, including public protests, to ensure its members are posted without further delay.
The situation highlights the broader issue of unemployment among trained healthcare professionals in Ghana, raising concerns about the country’s ability to efficiently absorb qualified personnel into its health system.
