I dreamt about Daddy Lumba, and he told me to do this for him – Abusuapanin shares as many wondered why Lumba’s face was covered.

The family head (Abusuapanin) of the late legendary Ghanaian musician, Daddy Lumba, has provided clarity on a matter that sparked public curiosity during the musician’s funeral—why his face was covered while lying in state.

In an interview granted to UTV at the funeral grounds, the Abusuapanin explained that the decision was not made by the family, but rather in accordance with the explicit wishes of the deceased.

According to him, Daddy Lumba had written in his will and informed his children that, upon his death, his face must be covered when his body is laid in state for public viewing.

“The covering of his face was strictly based on his own instruction,” the family head noted. “He made it clear in his will and verbally communicated it to the children. As a family, we are only respecting his final wishes.”

The Abusuapanin further added that the family had no authority to override the deceased’s documented and expressed desires, stating, “Since he made that decision himself, it would not be right for us to go against it, even as family leaders.”

The explanation comes as many mourners and members of the public had expressed surprise and concern upon seeing Daddy Lumba’s body fully draped during the traditional lying-in-state ceremony.

The family hopes the clarification puts all speculation to rest and emphasizes their commitment to honoring the late musician’s personal wishes with dignity.
