A devastating road accident at Offinso Old Town in the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of three individuals, leaving two others injured and receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
According to Kwame Yaro, the NADMO Coordinator for Afigya Kwabre South, the incident occurred on the night of Monday, January 12, 2026, at around 8 p.m.
He shared the details during an interview on the Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9 FM in Kumasi.
The victims—identified as a driver, a woman, and her child—were killed when their vehicle caught fire after a collision involving a trailer (registration GR-1357-W) and a mini truck transporting building materials.

Yaro further revealed that the female victim, a trader dealing in building materials, was on her way from Kumasi to Offinso to deliver goods when the tragic incident occurred.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, but the intensity of the fire made rescue efforts difficult.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash to determine what led to the fatal collision.
ASP Yaro, who addressed the media at the scene, confirmed that the police have taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
Authorities are placing special focus on road safety compliance, vehicle condition, and driver conduct.
This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of strict adherence to road safety regulations, especially on major highways.
