His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has successfully concluded a significant mediation process aimed at resolving the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy conflict.
The peace effort culminated in a face-to-face meeting between the key stakeholders at the Manhyia Palace Jubilee Hall in Kumasi.

The historic dialogue brought together delegations from the Mamprusi and Kusasi factions. Chief Tarana John Wuni Grumah, Paramount Chief of the Tarana Traditional Area, led a 30-member delegation representing His Majesty Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, the Nayiri and Overlord of the Mamprugu, along with the Mamprusi White Naba Tambis Baalug.
On the other side, the Kusasi delegation was led by the Paramount Chief of Pusiga, representing Bawku Naba Zugraan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II and his people, with Mr. Cletus Avoka serving as their spokesperson.

After months of extensive consultations and separate hearings, Otumfuo brought both sides together in a final direct dialogue, emphasizing peace, unity, and mutual respect.
The session was held in a cordial atmosphere, with both delegations affirming that they are one people and must not be at war with each other.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended the maturity and civility demonstrated by both factions and reminded them that regardless of the mediation’s outcome, coexistence as brothers and sisters remains essential.
He urged leaders to guide their followers towards lasting peace and to discourage violence and division.
The Asantehene announced that he would submit a formal report and recommendations to the President, John Dramani Mahama in the coming days, expressing hope that the President would swiftly convene a broader stakeholder meeting to consolidate the mediation’s outcome.
This marks a critical step toward lasting peace in Bawku, as the efforts of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II have been widely praised for their neutrality, wisdom, and commitment to national unity.
