The Ghana Police Service has announced comprehensive security measures ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, assuring stakeholders of a peaceful, credible, and well-secured electoral process.
Speaking on the preparedness of the Police Service, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Inspector-General of Police, disclosed that a minimum of 70 police officers will be deployed to every polling station nationwide.
According to him, this level of deployment represents the baseline, with additional officers assigned to areas assessed as high-risk or densely populated.

The IGP emphasized that the security strategy is intelligence-led and designed to prevent disturbances, intimidation, or electoral malpractice before they occur.
Personnel will be stationed at polling centers, collation points, and along key routes to ensure the safety of voters, party officials, electoral officers, and the general public.
He further noted that officers deployed for the primaries have been briefed to act professionally, remain neutral, and strictly uphold the law.
Any individual or group found attempting to disrupt the process will be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.
The leadership of the New Patriotic Party has welcomed the assurance, describing it as critical to safeguarding internal democracy and maintaining public confidence in the party’s electoral processes.

With these measures in place, the Police Service has reiterated its commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the NPP presidential primaries are conducted in a calm, orderly, and transparent manner across the country.
