In a press release dated Monday, December 8, 2025, and signed by Chief Inspector Alhassan Luckman Niendow, Regional Public Relations Officer, the police disclosed that the breakthrough came through an intelligence-led operation carried out on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The operation led to the arrest of Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi—three members of a four-man syndicate allegedly responsible for the abduction of a 42-year-old man from Wapuli, a community in the Yendi District.

The suspects had demanded a ransom of GH₵100,000 from the victim’s family for his release.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days. Authorities believe the fourth suspect, who remains at large, may have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation.

The police have called on the public to provide any information that could aid in his arrest.

The police commend the public for their cooperation and reaffirm their commitment to combatting violent crime in the region.

Upon receiving credible intelligence, a five-member team from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) was dispatched to Wapuli for surveillance, rescue, and arrest operations.
