NAIMOS Arrests Four Armed Thugs at Illegal Mining Site in Anbanzie

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested four armed individuals who were providing security for an illegal mining operation at Anbanzie in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region.

According to NAIMOS, the suspects were apprehended during a targeted operation aimed at dismantling unauthorized mining activities in the area.

The taskforce encountered resistance as the armed thugs reportedly attacked operatives while attempting to prevent the enforcement exercise.

Despite the confrontation, the NAIMOS team successfully overpowered the suspects and secured the site.

Following the arrests, the illegal mining site was completely destroyed to prevent any resumption of operations.

Equipment found at the location was rendered unusable in line with standard enforcement procedures.

The four suspects have since been handed over to the Salma Police for further investigations and possible prosecution.

In a statement after the operation, NAIMOS issued a stern warning to illegal miners and their collaborators, cautioning them against resisting lawful enforcement actions.

The taskforce emphasized that any form of violent resistance will be met with decisive action, stressing that the government remains committed to ending illegal mining and protecting the country’s natural resources.

NAIMOS reaffirmed its resolve to intensify operations across mining hotspots nationwide and urged the public to support the fight against illegal mining by providing timely information to security agencies.
