One person has been confirmed dead following a violent confrontation between a police patrol team and suspected illegal small-scale miners, commonly known as galamsey operators, at Bepo Tenten in the Odotobiri Constituency.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred during a routine police operation aimed at curbing illegal mining activities in the area.
The patrol team reportedly encountered resistance from a group of suspected galamsey operators, leading to a heated clash.
In the course of the confrontation, one individual sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially released, pending notification of family members and further investigations.
Police sources indicate that calm has since been restored to the area, with security presence reinforced to prevent any reprisal attacks or escalation of tensions.
