One Dead, Two Rescued in Ghastly Accident at Breku Forest

One person has been confirmed dead following a ghastly road traffic accident at Breku Forest near the Pra River on the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026, involving a Howo Sinotruk truck (registration number AS-4114-24) loaded with cement.

The truck reportedly lost control and overturned, trapping three occupants in the wreckage.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly after receiving a distress call.

A combined rescue team from the Konongo–Odumase and Juaso Fire Stations, led by Sub Officer Siaw Richardson, was deployed to the scene.

Through a coordinated and technical rescue operation, the team successfully extricated two injured victims from the damaged vehicle.

The injured persons were immediately handed over to the National Ambulance Service and transported to the Juaso Government Hospital for medical treatment.

Unfortunately, one occupant was found dead at the scene.

The body was retrieved by the rescue team and formally handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations and necessary procedures.

The truck sustained extensive damage, particularly to its front section, indicating the severity of the impact.

Authorities have commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident.
