Ooni of Ife confers prestigious chieftaincy title on President John Mahama for fostering peace among African nations.

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has conferred a prestigious chieftaincy title on Ghana’s President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, in a grand traditional ceremony held in Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

The honour was bestowed in recognition of President Mahama’s exemplary leadership, contributions to the advancement of democracy across Africa, and his efforts in fostering unity and cultural ties between West African nations.

The colourful event, held at the Ooni’s Palace, was attended by traditional leaders, dignitaries, government officials, and guests from across the continent.

Clad in regal traditional attire, the Ooni personally welcomed and decorated President Mahama with symbolic beads and garments befitting the honour.

In his remarks, Oba Ogunwusi praised Mahama’s dedication to public service and Pan-Africanism, describing him as a “bridge-builder and symbol of peace.”

He further noted that the conferment is not only a gesture of appreciation but also a symbol of the historic bond between the people of Ghana and Nigeria.

President Mahama expressed his gratitude for the honour, pledging to continue promoting peace, integration, and development in Africa.
