The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched an investigation into an alleged corruption scheme involving the diversion of fifty 20-foot containers of palm oil valued at GHS25.8 million.

According to an official statement dated February 24, 2026, the shipment had been declared as goods in transit to Burkina Faso.

However, preliminary findings indicate that the consignment was unlawfully redirected into the local market without the payment of required duties and taxes.

The OSP revealed that some Customs officers, National Security operatives, and clearing agents have been implicated in the suspected scheme. The alleged diversion is estimated to have caused a loss of approximately GHS10.5 million in tax revenue to the state.

The investigation stems from an intelligence-led operation conducted in November 2025. Authorities are currently gathering evidence to determine the full extent of the alleged misconduct and identify all individuals involved.

The Office reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public funds and ensuring accountability within state institutions.
