The Western North Regional Police Command has apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in a violent armed robbery at a mining site near Sefwi Antobia in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The suspect, identified as Victor Biney, alias Abeiku, who has been on the police wanted list for multiple robbery incidents, was arrested on Monday, 17th November 2025.
His arrest followed a report that seven armed and masked men attacked miners, assaulted them with cutlasses, and made away with quantities of gold concentrate and several mobile phones.

Investigations indicate that the assailants were armed with pump-action and single-barrel guns.
They reportedly beat the miners severely and stole valuable items. Three of the robbers were seen wearing smocks,one of which was adorned with talismans while another wore a military camouflage shirt.
A search of the suspect’s shrine at Attakrom led to the recovery of key evidence, including a military camouflage shirt, two cutlasses, a pair of handcuffs, a single-barrel gun, seventeen AAA live cartridges, several flashlights, smocks, mercury, gold concentrate particles, and a pump-action gun butt.

These items are believed to be linked to the robbery.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted ownership of many of the recovered items.
Some of the victims positively identified several of the flashlights, mercury, gold concentrate, and smocks as property stolen during the robbery.
They also confirmed the military shirt and some smocks matched those worn by the attackers.
Victor Biney was arraigned before the Juaboso District Court on 17th November 2025 and has been remanded into police custody to reappear on 8th December 2025.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the remaining accomplices, who remain at large, and are determined to bring them to justice.
