Police Arrest Suspect in Obuasi Robbery and Murder Case

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery incident that led to the death of a miner at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, identified as Rahman Adams, also known as Wale, was arrested on January 18, 2026, at Pomposo following an intelligence-led operation by the police.

His arrest is linked to a residential robbery that occurred on December 12, 2025, at Asonkore.

According to police reports, armed assailants broke into a residence by cutting through a burglar-proof window and attacked the occupants.

Upon responding to a distress call, police officers discovered the body of a 42-year-old miner inside the house.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers assaulted the deceased during the robbery.

The assailants reportedly made away with cash amounting to GH¢2,600, a laptop computer, and a vehicle ignition key.

Items retrieved from the crime scene included hammers, machetes, and cutters, believed to have been used during the attack.

Police investigations further indicate that two other suspects—one identified only as A.T. and another believed to be a Nigerian national—are currently on the run and are suspected to have played significant roles in the robbery and murder.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary, where it has been preserved for autopsy.

Rahman Adams is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has assured the public that efforts are being intensified to track down and arrest the remaining suspects to ensure they are brought to justice.
