Police Arrest Two Suspected Street Robbers at Dzorwulu, Retrieve Mobile Phones and GH¢2,690

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspected street robbers following an intelligence-led patrol operation at Dzorwulu in Accra.

According to a press release issued by the Accra Regional Police Command, the arrest was carried out by the Kotobabi District Police Command on Wednesday, 14 January 2026.

The suspects were intercepted while riding an unregistered black Royal 125 motorbike during a routine patrol.

The suspects, identified as Stephen Getsu, aged 37, and Mohammed Sheriff, aged 20, were reportedly dressed in all-black attire with black helmets.

Police said the pillion rider was seen wielding a cutlass, prompting officers to pursue them.

During the chase, warning shots were fired, causing the suspects to lose control of the motorbike near Roman Ridge, close to the Nigerian High Commission. They attempted to flee on foot but were arrested.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of several items, including multiple mobile phones of different brands, a necklace, and cash amounting to GH¢2,690 and USD 2.

The suspects sustained injuries during the arrest and were treated at the Police Hospital.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to committing several robberies within the Accra Metropolis. Victims have since identified both the suspects and their stolen phones.

The suspects have been remanded into police custody and are expected to reappear in court as investigations continue.
