A tragic case of alleged domestic abuse has led to the arrest of a couple in Kokrobite, within the Ga South Municipality, after their 13-year-old daughter reportedly died from severe beatings.
The victim, identified as Celestine, is said to have been assaulted by her father, Issah Mohammed, and her stepmother, Yaa Grace, over accusations that she ate food meant for her younger sibling.
According to initial reports, the stepmother confronted the father with the allegation when he returned home from work, prompting a violent reaction.

Sources close to the family state that the child was subjected to prolonged physical abuse, resulting in critical injuries.
Celestine was later found unresponsive and was pronounced dead after being taken to a nearby health facility.

The Ghana Police Service has since arrested the two guardians, who are currently in custody assisting with investigations.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at a morgue for autopsy as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death.
