Police Intercept Kia Rhino Truck Transporting Illegal Arms and Ammunition from Accra to Kumasi

In an intelligence-led operation, the Oti Regional Police have intercepted a truck transporting illegal arms and ammunition from Accra to Kpandai, leading to the arrest of two suspects.

According to police sources, the operation was carried out following actionable intelligence indicating the movement of prohibited weapons across regions.

Acting on the tip-off, officers mounted surveillance and intercepted a Kia Rhino truck along the route.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a cache of illegal arms and ammunition concealed within the cargo.

The two occupants of the truck were immediately arrested and taken into custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

Preliminary inquiries suggest the weapons were being transported without lawful authority, raising concerns about potential criminal use and threats to public safety.

Police have since secured the seized items as exhibits and intensified investigations to establish the source of the weapons, their intended destination, and whether the suspects are part of a wider criminal network.
