The Ahafo Regional Police Task Force has successfully intercepted a vehicle transporting a significant quantity of suspected illegal pharmaceutical drugs during a targeted operation along the Goaso–Atta Mills Road.
According to police sources, the operation led to the seizure of approximately 1,500 pieces of Trama King 250 mg, a high-dose variant of tramadol, a controlled substance known for its potential for abuse and addiction.
Preliminary interrogation of the driver revealed that the consignment was allegedly handed over to him in Kumasi, with further investigations underway to determine the intended destination and individuals behind the distribution network.

Tramadol, though medically prescribed for severe pain relief, has increasingly become a drug of abuse in parts of Ghana, especially among youth, prompting law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to curb its illegal circulation.
The Ahafo Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of communities.
Authorities have assured the public that further investigations will be conducted to trace the source and final destination of the seized drugs, and to bring all culprits involved to justice.
The intercepted driver is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the pharmaceutical products have been sent to the relevant regulatory agencies for testing and verification.
