Security agencies have recorded a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics trafficking following the arrest of a Nigerian national, Charles Adenkule, at the Kpotame barrier on the Accra–Sogakope highway.
The arrest was made during a routine security operation when police intercepted a black Liberty Jeep traveling along the busy corridor.
A thorough search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of GHS 218,000 concealed in the car.

According to police sources, the suspect allegedly attempted to compromise the officers by offering a US$20,000 bribe in a bid to evade arrest.
The offer was firmly rejected, reinforcing the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to professionalism and zero tolerance for corruption.
The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, while the seized drugs have been secured for further forensic analysis.
Authorities believe the arrest may be linked to a wider transnational drug trafficking network operating within the sub-region.
Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their resolve to intensify surveillance along major highways and border routes, warning criminal elements that Ghana is not a safe transit point for illegal drugs.
This latest operation underscores ongoing efforts to dismantle organised criminal networks and protect communities from the devastating effects of narcotics trafficking.
