Police Rescue Woman and Arrest Suspect in Viral Domestic Abuse Incident
The Ghana Police Service has rescued a young woman and arrested her alleged abuser in connection with a widely circulated video showing her with a severe eye injury, visibly distressed and pleading for help from bystanders.

The operation was led by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team following the emergence of the disturbing video on social media platforms.

In a swift response, the team launched an intelligence-led operation which successfully traced the individuals involved to Okushibri, near Apollonia in the Greater Accra Region.
According to police reports, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, identified as Bright Kpodo, also known by the alias “Horror,” is the victim’s partner.
He is alleged to have physically assaulted the victim, resulting in the visible injury captured in the viral footage.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities have assured the public that arrangements are being made to provide the victim with the necessary medical and psychological support.
The Ghana Police Service, while commending the public for bringing the incident to light, has urged citizens to continue reporting cases of domestic violence to enable swift intervention and ensure justice for victims.
