Police Uncover Weapons, Arrest Suspects in Major Criminal Investigation in the Bono Region.
The Bono Regional Police Command has made significant progress in a wide-ranging criminal investigation involving weapons trafficking, robbery, and illegal possession of military gear.

The development follows a search operation conducted in the room of suspect Latif Mustapha, also known as “Star Boy,” which led to the discovery of a cache of weapons and suspicious items.

Recovered items included a full set of military camouflage, a black Cruxnnt Glock toy gun, live and spent bullets, taser, pepper spray, kitchen and jack knives, military boots, charms, toffee suspected to be laced with Indian hemp, and multiple laptops and tools.
A Hungarian R-9 Parabellum pistol loaded with 9mm rounds was later found in the possession of Mosby Owusu, linked back to Latif Mustapha, who allegedly sold it for GHS 9000 but retained access to it.
The investigation also led to the arrest of individuals involved in the dishonest receipt of stolen motorbikes and tricycles transported to Côte d’Ivoire.

Three motorcycles and one tricycle were retrieved for evidentiary purposes.
On December 2, 2025, suspects Johnson Amponsah Kwame Diawo (47), Shadrach Owusu (25), and Kwato Samuel (30) appeared before the Fiapre Circuit Court on robbery-related charges. They were remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, Latif Mustapha and Mosby Owusu were arraigned separately at the Sunyani District Court B on firearms trafficking and military gear possession charges.
Two others, Kofi Idrisaa (45) and Baba Kumi Foster (35), are under investigation for dishonestly receiving and have been granted police bail.
The Bono Regional Police Command assured the public of ongoing efforts to arrest accomplices still at large and called for public cooperation with credible information to aid in further arrests.
The Command reiterated its commitment to security and the fight against organized crime in the region.
