Private Legal Practitioner Martin Kpebu Detained by Office of the Special Prosecutor yesterday.
Prominent private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has been detained by officials from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), his legal team has confirmed.
The detention, which occurred on December 2, followed Kpebu’s appearance at the OSP in response to an official summons. According to initial reports, he was arrested for allegedly obstructing an OSP officer during the engagement.

Sources close to the matter indicate that Kpebu had honoured the invitation to assist in ongoing investigations relating to his own corruption allegations against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.
However, tensions reportedly arose over procedural concerns, particularly regarding the composition of the investigative team.
Kpebu is said to have raised objections to being questioned by officers he believes are subordinate to the Special Prosecutor, citing a conflict of interest and demanding that an “independently constituted” panel be set up to conduct the inquiry.
“They kept making me appear before subordinates. Subordinates can’t investigate their boss. It’s incompetence,” Kpebu reportedly stated.

As of now, the OSP has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. The matter continues to draw public attention, particularly given its implications for transparency and accountability within Ghana’s anti-corruption framework.
