Seven Metal Container Shops and Other Properties Burned to Ashes at Spintex Road

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a ferocious commercial fire that broke out in the early hours of Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Spintex Road, near Marina Mall, without recording any casualties.

According to GNFS, a distress call was received at 0001 hours reporting a rapidly spreading fire involving metal container shops used for commercial activities.

Due to a faulty fire engine at the nearby Kasapreko Fire Station, three fire pumps were mobilised from the Motorway, Tema Metro, and Tema Industrial Area Fire Stations.

The Tema Motorway Fire Engine, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I Derrick Sarkodie, arrived at the scene at 0019 hours and encountered an advanced-stage fire.

Through coordinated and tactical firefighting operations, the combined teams brought the blaze under control by 0156 hours and fully extinguished it at 0432 hours.

Seven metal container shops housing furniture, tailoring, and grocery businesses were destroyed, along with their contents.

However, firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to Marina Mall and salvaged a car garage containing over 35 vehicles, several adjoining shops, and nearby residential buildings.

The GNFS has confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, while commending the swift response and professionalism of the personnel involved.
