According to the MP, the upcoming exercise forms part of the government’s continued efforts to sanitize the telecommunications space, enhance digital security, and curb cybercrime.
Hon. Sam George, who is also a key member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Communications, emphasized that this phase will address some of the challenges encountered during the previous registration processes, including issues with the Ghana Card integration and data verification systems.

“The new SIM registration initiative will be rolled out in early 2026. This time, it will be more structured, transparent, and inclusive to ensure no Ghanaian is unfairly disconnected or left out of the digital ecosystem,” he stated during a media engagement.
The exercise is expected to involve the use of improved biometric verification technologies and stronger collaboration between the National Communications Authority (NCA), the National Identification Authority (NIA), and telecom service providers.
Special provisions may also be made for vulnerable groups and rural communities to prevent digital exclusion.
Hon. George also urged citizens to cooperate fully with the process when it begins, stressing its importance to national security, digital advancement, and efficient communication services.
