Political tensions are rising in Kasoa following allegations that supporters of New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, were harassed and assaulted by a group reportedly linked to former Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament, Hawa Koomson.
According to a report by Classfmonline.com, the incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, January 26, when a group described by eyewitnesses as “machomen” allegedly confronted Dr. Acheampong’s supporters at various locations across Kasoa.
Victims claim they were physically assaulted and intimidated, forcing some to flee for safety.

One supporter, identified as Emefa, told party officials that the group subjected them to beatings, resulting in injuries that required medical attention.
Reports indicate that the affected individuals spent the night between the Kasoa Police Station and a hospital receiving treatment.
Further claims suggest that Hawa Koomson was allegedly present at a party office during the incident on Monday, January 27, and may have played a role in directing the group’s actions. These allegations have not yet been officially confirmed, and investigations are ongoing.
The incident comes against the backdrop of a previous violent episode involving Hawa Koomson during the Ablekuma North by-election, where she was reportedly assaulted by individuals believed to be aligned with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), an incident that drew widespread condemnation.
With the NPP’s internal presidential election scheduled for Saturday, observers warn that the Kasoa clash could further inflame tensions and threaten the safety of party activities.
Party members are calling on national leadership to strengthen security measures at all levels to prevent further violence and protect grassroots participation.
