Tamale: Police Arrest Man Over GHS80,000 Worth of Suspected Marijuana at Kpalsi

The Ghana Police Service’s Special Operations Team has arrested a man in Kpalsi, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region, in connection with the possession and distribution of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

The seized substances are estimated to have a street value of approximately GHS80,000.

The suspect was apprehended during a targeted operation at the residence of an associate he was visiting.

According to police sources, the original target of the operation the suspect’s friend managed to flee the scene moments before the officers arrived.

In a video captured during the arrest, the detained suspect is heard admitting that he had been contemplating ending his involvement in the illegal trade.

However, he claimed that peer pressure from friends, who convinced him of the financial benefits, led him to continue dealing in the substance.

He further disclosed that he had handed over the remaining stock to his friend now at large for distribution.

The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities have launched a manhunt for the prime suspect who evaded arrest.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to clamping down on drug-related activities and has urged the public to volunteer information to support ongoing efforts in the fight against narcotics trafficking.
