Three Dead, six injured in tragic head-on collision at Kpando–Aziave at Kpando

A fatal head-on collision between a Howo Tipper Truck (registration GN-4585-25) and a Daewoo Matiz (GW-5674-19) at Kpando–Aziave on December 3, 2025, has claimed three lives, left six others injured, and one person unharmed.

According to a report filed by the Public Relations Officer of the Volta Region Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the swift intervention of the GNFS team, supported by the Police, helped in rescuing trapped victims and restoring traffic flow.

The driver of the tipper truck sustained injuries and was promptly attended to, while his assistant escaped without harm.

Tragically, the occupants of the Daewoo Matiz were more severely affected. Five passengers sustained injuries, while three—including the driver—were trapped in the wreckage.

Despite efforts, the driver and two others later died from their injuries.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the Daewoo Matiz veered into the truck’s lane, causing the head-on collision. Emergency personnel worked tirelessly to extricate the victims and secure the area.

The GNFS commended the coordinated emergency response and urged drivers to exercise extreme caution on the roads, particularly on highways with narrow lanes and sharp bends.
