TikTok LIVE banned in Nigeria due to explicit program designed by some host at night.
TikTok has temporarily disabled its late-night “LIVE” streaming feature in Nigeria due to a sharp rise in explicit sexual content and adult-themed broadcasts during nighttime hours.
According to DW Africa, the restriction affects all live sessions between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., the period identified to have the highest volume of such inappropriate content.
This move is part of TikTok’s broader efforts to protect its users and enhance platform safety by curbing the spread of harmful or explicit material.

The platform has revealed that it has previously removed over 49,000 live sessions originating from Nigeria that were found to contain sexual content, raising concerns about digital safety and content moderation.
While TikTok has not provided a specific timeframe for when the restriction will be lifted, it emphasized that the measure is temporary and will remain in place while further safeguards are assessed and possibly implemented.
The decision has sparked a variety of reactions from Nigerian users, with some applauding the platform’s efforts to ensure a safer space, while others have raised questions about digital rights and censorship.
