Upper West Police Intensify Operations Following Armed Robbery and Abduction Incident at Kendeu

The Upper West Regional Police Command has launched intensified operations in the Wa West District following a disturbing robbery and abduction incident that occurred on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at around 2:00 p.m. near Kendeu.

According to a police press release, a group of armed young men ambushed road users, robbing them of money and valuables.
The attackers also reportedly assaulted and robbed market women travelling along the route.

A swift deployment of a combined team of Police and Military personnel to the area led to the arrest of ten suspects, while others managed to escape. The security team retrieved five locally manufactured firearms, twenty-five AA live cartridges, two spent cartridges, two knives, and several spiritual talismans.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had earlier abducted two victims—John Gaan and Dari Moses Dondomor—whose whereabouts and properties are still unknown. Police have engaged with complainants and are continuing efforts to locate the missing individuals.
To maintain order and security, integrated patrols have been intensified, accompanied by community engagement efforts to support search operations and ease local tensions.

The Upper West Regional Police Command commended the professionalism and swift action of officers involved, along with collaboration from sister security agencies and local community leaders.

DCOP Mr. Francis K. Yiribaare, Regional Police Commander, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
