“URGENT CALL ON MR. PRESIDENT  John Dramani Mahama

We’re all experiencing it again, this on-and-off power situation and honestly, it’s becoming quite worrying.

I just want to raise a very important concern at this time.

Our young students taking the WASSCE exams started their practical examinations  on 21st April 2026 and our BECE candidates began  their exams exactly a week from today, 4th May 2026. This is a very critical period for our young people, truly a defining moment in their academic journey.

They should be fully focused on revision and preparation, but the unstable power supply is making that very difficult.

When lights go off in the middle of studying, it breaks concentration, slows learning and in some cases creates unnecessary anxiety at a time when they need calm and focus the most. Parents are becoming increasingly worried and some of the children are already getting disillusioned.

And the truth is, WAEC will not consider whether there was light to study or not, the exams will go on regardless.

Likewise,it is also true that businesses, young entrepreneurs, and small scale workers are being affected in different ways. That impact is real and should not be ignored.

For our students, this is a once-in-a-year moment for them, and they deserve stability as they prepare and sit for their exams without this added stress.

So this is a sincere and urgent appeal to the President of the Republic and the Minister of Energy and Green Transition to urgently address the power situation people are already going through a lot. And the frustration is real.

At the very least, let’s ensure our students are given a fair and stable environment to prepare for and write their exams.

The President and government cannot turn their back on these young ones at this time.

Their future really matters.

Please ACT Now!”, he writes.
