Minority Alleges Government Owes Over $700million To IPPs and Fuel Suppliers leading to Dumsor.
The Minority has raised a serious allegation against the current government about the debt of $700million owes to the IPPs and fuel suppliers in the energy sector.
According to the Member of Parliament for Kwabre South and Deputy Ranking Committee Member for the Ministry for Energy and Transition, Honourable Collins Adomako Mensah addressing the media, said the Ministry of Energy owes over $700million to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and Fuel Suppliers contradicting that the government cleared all debt in the sector.
He added that, the challenges faced by the current government in the energy sector are not technical faults but financial constraints.

In his address, the Honourable called on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to own some debt leading to the power crisis in the country.
He states “the data available to us is that the government owes IPPs over $500 million and over $200 million to companies that supplied fuel for power generation”.
He further added that the levy collected on fuel should have its appropriate usage on the Energy sector, and he therefore called on the Energy Minister and Minister of Finance to present the detailed report to the parliament.
