A Church of Pentecost elder, David Bobie Peter, has been apprehended by the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) for alleged illegal mining on River Kume at Akyem Morso in Juaso, Ashanti Region.
The NAIMOS in their statement says the task force stormed Kyekyebia for a large illegal mining operation with different machines.
Upon arriving at the site, the young men involved in the illegal mining fled to a nearby forest.
No arrest was made as eight changfan machines were destroyed and many pipes connecting the machines to the water were damaged.

Additionally, a hidden excavator in a cocoa farm was discovered which was partially disabled but the task force removed the keys.
It was stated that the suspect was arrested during the operation after the accused told the task force he was visiting his farm which was later revealed to have been sent by his employer to oversee the presence of the NAIMOS on the site.
The NAIMOS confirmed that part of the River Kume has been destroyed by illegal mining by the accused.
The Suspect has been handed over to the Konongo District Police for further investigation.
