Honorable Bernard Bediako, Member of Parliament for Akwatia has publicly expressed his confidence in the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama to give his assent to the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, while the bill is facing legislative challenges.
The bill often referred to as the ‘anti-LGBTQ bill’ which was passed by the parliament on Friday, May, 29, 2026 seeks to criminalise LGBTQ related activities in the country.
He argues that the newly passed law awaits the President’s assent and the President would not play games with his assent.

He stated that the bill which was unable to pass under the administration of the former President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has succeeded under the leadership of the current president.
“Let me put on document that it is now getting on to be fine-tuned. That is what transpires. I mean, do the formal drafting before it’s submitted to the President,” he said.
