Government to invest $3.5 Billion in the Petroleum Sector – Energy Minister

Hon. John Jirapor, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, has lamented that Ghana’s Petroleum sector is set to rebound after 5 years.

The Minister, speaking on the president’s agenda ‘Resetting Ghana’ in the Savannah Region during the citizen engagement on Saturday, May, 23, 2026, says the government is implementing measures to strengthen the petroleum sector, which is attracting different investors to the oil and gas production sector.

He urged that the recent investment in the sector is set to boost production making the energy sector resilient for empowering electricity in the country.

He revealed that the government has signed a memorandum of US $1.5 billion with the Italian energy sector Uni and another US$2 billion with the Jubilee partners.

He added that the current investment is set to improve the energy efficiency which has become a problem in households and other enterprises within the country.

He concluded that the energy remains a challenge to Ghanaians but the investment is projected to solve the challenges facing the sector.
