The Ghanaian sensational Afrobeat and RnB artist, Black Sherif, has lamented the reasons for being dropped out of the University for Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra.
Speaking on Joyfm on April, 30, 2026, Black Sherif was asked why he dropped out of the University even though he was a brilliant student.
He answered, saying he went to the lectures only eight times in the whole year, “I can only recount about eight times, plus one or minus one for the whole year of being in the University”.
According to him, the parents wanted him to become a doctor, but he was offered a management degree at the university, which the parents could not accept, so he accepted it.
Additionally, Black Sherif gave a surprising moment of leaving the examination hall to write a song while the exams were going on which many thought he would return to continue with it but never came back.

He added that, his love for music stems from high school at Kumasi Academy where he made the bold step of choosing music as his career, which most of his family doubted him.
Upon questioning from the host about continuing his education at the university, he admitted that he has personal reasons for returning to tertiary despite being a dropout.
“At the level I’m in right now, I have my personal reasons for returning to the University to further my education”, he said.
Black Sherif is known for his numerous hit songs such as ‘Kwaku the Traveller’, ‘top of the Morning’, ‘Paradise’, ‘popstar’, and many more, expressing his deepest admiration for music and that he will continue his education.
