Ghana to lose over $2bn annually – ASEC
According to the Africa Sustainable Energy Center (ASEC), Ghana is on the verge of losing close to $2bn per year due to power outages.
The ASEC’s predicted loss emphasises the country’s loss of most of its investment through manufacturing, services, production, and national development at large.

Mr. Justice Ohene Akoto, the Executive Director of ASEC speaking says, the outrage of the energy sector will have a significant impact on the economy.

The sectors affected by the power outage as noted by ASEC are the health and services, manufacturing, small to medium-sized enterprises, and wholesale facilities within the country and other direct investments from foreigners.
ASEC warns of a significant financial loss and calls for the government and other stakeholders to help curb the situation to avoid this foreseen economic crisis.
Mr. Justice Ohene Akoto urges the government to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the sector to solve the energy crisis problem.
ASEC added that, moving forward the government can diversify the renewable energy supply such as solar energy, hydro power, and wind, and provide a reliable energy supply in the sector.
ASEC also recommended that the government engage in aging transmission infrastructure to boost the sector to avoid losses.

Mr. Justice Akoto Ohene added that the country can solve the energy crisis but needs proper and strategic management to boost its supply to the people.
