The Ghana Police Service has been hit with bad news following a Chief Inspector identified as Emmanuel Amoah, stationed at the Odorkor Divisional MTTD, who has reportedly died by suicide in his bedroom at the police quarters near the Abossey Okai Post Office in Accra.
The said incident occurred on 14th May, 2026, at exactly 12:35 p.m in the afternoon.
According to a report by CrimeCheck, the police officer is said to have been found lifeless while sitting very close to his bed with his neck tied with a sponge hanged onto a wooden crossbar.
This report raises concerns about how mental health and ways of handling it are handled by health support for officers.
