Two Cocoa Smugglers Arrested at Dormaa
Two suspects believed to be behind the cocoa smuggling in the Dormaa Central have been apprehended by the police after it was announced by the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboah.
This follows an operation by the anti-cocoa task force and the security agencies in the region after an investigation into the cocoa smuggling was detected.
The Minister speaking at the Sunyani Coordinating Council says the arrest of the suspect was revealed after he toured cocoa farming communities during his accounting to the people tour at Dromaa Ahenfie and Wamfie.

He says, it was revealed that the two suspects are the brains behind the cocoa smuggling in the area as they tend to help people during the smuggling.
He added that suspects identified as Ernest 52 and Kumi Akyew 45 are buyers in connection with Yonkopa Cocoa Buying Company.
He therefore accused the suspect of diverting government funds for providing cocoa beans and other fertilizers where he alleges that he has contributed to the delay in the purchase of cocoa.
He added that the suspects smuggle cocoa to Cote d’Ivoire where it is sold at a lower price.
He stated that the suspects are set to be arraigned before the court in the coming days as he urges all Ghanaians to be vigilant and report such cases.
