10 Suspects Arrested for Illegally Possessing Firearms Over Chieftaincy Dispute in Aburi

Ten Suspects Arrested for Illegally Possessing Firearms Over Chieftaincy Dispute in Aburi

A press statement by the Ghana Police Service dated 4th April, 2026, states that ten (10) suspects have been apprehended for possession of arms and ammunition, not in connection with the Abambrobe chieftaincy dispute in Aburi.

It was stated that the Aburi Police Command has arrested ten suspects, some of whom are security personnel.

According to the police report, the police retrieved five (5) pump-action rifles, twenty-three (23) live cartridges, one (1) taser, six (6) phones, and one(1)body armour as two (2) vehicles were seized; one unregistered Ford Pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19 used to transport the suspects.

On 4th May, 2026, an additional suspect was arrested in connection with the case bringing the total suspects to eleven (11).

It was stated that the suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.

The Eastern Police Command then assures the public of ensuring the safety of the people.
