The Western Regional Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with a shooting incident that led to the death of one person at a mining site in Gwira in the Nzema East Region.
The report says the deceased was identified as Angu Mensah aged 45, Abusuapanin of Gwira Ampansie, who was shot at the Galamsey site after a misunderstanding.
The six suspects are three Ghanaians and three Chinese nationals: Hamza Abubakar, 36 years; Hamidu Seidu, 42 years; Francis Biewose, 26 years; Bai Yaozheng, 36 years; Liu Gang, 43 years; and Wen Xien Wen, 45 years.

The Police on Sunday, May, 24, 2026 received a distress call about the shooting incident and quickly rushed to the shooting incident scene.

“The team together with the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) proceeded to the scene, on the spot investigation revealed that, at about 1145 hours, a misunderstanding ensued between the deceased and some people at the site, and in the process, one Alfred Sadick @ Strongman shot him in the chest”, the police stated.
The report stated that the six suspects are currently in police custody assisting in the investigation and will be arraigned before the court in the coming days.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for further investigation.
The police are calling on the general public with credible information about the suspects to provide to the police command.
