ECG Pumps GHS 1.11 billion to Solve Power Outages in the Ashanti Region

The Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG is set to pump GHS 1.11 billion to accelerate the transformer upgrade in the Ashanti Region to tackle power outages happening in the Region.

The project is set to begin on May, 6,2026 as the ECG in the Ashanti has deployed over 300 new transformers to areas and communities experiencing low voltage due to the overload of equipment.

The ECG states that the intervention aims at improving efficient power to households in areas and businesses struggling to access a stable power supply across the Ashanti Region.

The news was disclosed about the new policy, which is to improve the infrastructure and other transformers needed to provide a stable and efficient power supply to its customers.

“We want to assure our cherished customers that there shouldn’t be any panic, as we rightly said, and that the ECG is undertaking this massive upgrade to satisfy our customers, and this is not the only project that we are doing,” the Public Relations Officer for ECG’s Ashanti West Region, Benjamin Obeng Antwi, said in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM
