Former GIHOC CEO, Kofi Jumah, reportedly rushed to the Korle-Bu ICU

The Ashanti Regional Communication Officer, Paul Yandoh has confirmed that Former Chief Executive Officer for GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Mr. Kofi Jumah was granted bail after he was picked up by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on 29th April, 2026 but was unable to meet the bail conditions of a GHS55 million bail grant.

Speaking on Accra-based television Cititv, the Ashanti Regional NPP Communication Director, Paul Yandoh who confirmed that Mr. Kofi Jumah has been admitted to the Korle-Bu Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is currently receiving treatment.

He stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is making an effort to secure his bail but the effort is slowing the process due to his condition. 

Mr. Kofi Jumah comes after EOCO raided his residence in Kumasi and arrested him following a mismanagement of public funds during his tenure in office even though the EOCO has not officially stated the reason behind his arrest.
