President Mahama calls for a law to criminalize Sex-for-Job
The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has declared war on ‘sex for job’ in both the private and public sectors.
At a town hall meeting in Koforidua on May, 2, 2026, the president, in his address, called on male employers who engaged in exchanging romantic relationships with female graduates before employing them.
He then asked for legislation to ban such acts, as they are unacceptable and exploitative.

The President added that, he finds it worsens when the graduate is female with the same qualifications as a male but most employers sideline them and tend to engage in romantic affairs before accepting them.
The President urged that, there should be a bill to punish every individual found guilty. He stressed that the act is unacceptable.

This comes after students raised concerns about gender inequality in the job sector where the president agreed that female students are sidelined in employment.
He stated that his government is working around to ensure parity is achieved, “We are going to work to make sure that we achieve the targets by the end of 2028, we should achieve 50-50 parity.”
