The police returned fire, resulting in two of the suspects sustaining gunshot wounds.

They were later identified as Usmaro Mohammed and Yaw Frimpong, alias Nana Yaw. The two remaining suspects managed to flee into the bush and are currently at large.

A search of the area led to the recovery of significant evidence, including:

– One AK-47 rifle loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition

– One pump-action shotgun loaded with four BB cartridges

– Four spent cartridges

– A black bag containing 16 live cartridges

The injured suspects were rushed to the Bekwai Municipal Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest the group is linked to a series of high-profile robbery incidents across the Ashanti and Western North regions, including the Mpohor gold robbery, a highway robbery at Nyinahini, and a robbery at a cocoa shed in Sefwi.

Police say the gang has known collaborators in Mankranso, Tamale, and Berekum, whose identities have been established but are being withheld for operational reasons.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and determine the ownership of the impounded vehicle.
